Using Fear as a Source of Strength &
Growth Welcome Dear Friends, This month we chose to focus on overcoming fear. We are at a time in the world when we are surrounded by what may appear to be
unsettling challenges. And this can invoke Fear. Fear can be an incredibly powerful and pervasive emotion that can move us out of challenging situations, or rob us of the fullness of life. It can cause us to avoid new experiences, hold us back from pursuing our dreams, and make us feel anxious and overwhelmed. However, it doesn't have to be this way. Overcoming fear is a challenge, but
with the right mindset and actions, it is possible to conquer it and live a life full of joy and fulfilment. In this article, we will explore some practical steps that we can take to overcome fear and live the life we truly desire. Work through each of the steps below, writing down / journalling as you figure out the answers. Step 1 Perspective - Challenges are really just gifts that allow us to see what needs to change for our betterment. Don't fight them. Taking a new perspective that
says "This is a gift…..an opportunity to transform" helps us see the unseen, and helps us view the challenge in a new way.What gift is being presented in your challenge? Step 2 identify its source. Is it a fear of failure, rejection, or perhaps the unknown, the future, the past, or something else? If you are struggling to identify the root – ask
yourself, what emotion is evoked by the fear? – and then move to step 3. Step 3 We then want to know, when did this start. Ask yourself when was the first time you felt like this, what was going on? And then, where is this held in my body? If you know how to muscle check, find out the age and who was involved. If not then simply close your eyes,
breathe deeply, put your hand on your tummy, and see what pops to mind. Don't worry if it takes a few times to do this, or even a few days. Just ask the question and wait to see what comes up. Remember it may not be immediate. Be patient, it’s a good technique to use. Step 4 Then, it's time to reframe the mindset. Our
body/mind/energy system is still focussing on the past experience and still anchored in that moment. So now it is time to focus on the positive outcomes as opposed to the old group of past experiences. Ask yourself, What can you tell yourself about the new outcome you expect and that you want your body to connect to? What do you want instead? Step 5 Now to shifting the stuckness. Again, if you know how to muscle check then check what you need to shift this old energy, so you can connect to a new frequency / a new vibration. If you don’t know how to muscle check, close your eyes, then, shift your awareness to your heart, and breathe in for 4 counts and out for 8, and just keep this going for at least 3 minutes, whilst visualizing what it is that you want instead – see yourself in that visualization as if it is already
happening and conclude a new outcome. Step 6 Taking action is crucial in overcoming fear. Start with small steps. Ask yourself, what small action do you need to take / can you take to change the current circumstances? Remember, every action you take is a victory, no matter how small. With every step forward, you are building confidence
and reducing your fear. Take action every day towards the place you are desirous of being. Step 7 Start your day with positive affirmations before you get out of bed – take a few minutes to remind yourself of this new way of being, think of something you are grateful for, and set positive intentions for the day ahead. If you are struggling to think
of what you are grateful for, start with basics. Roof over my head perhaps, a friend, a family member, limbs, faith, it can be very simple things. Remember to Celebrate every small win along the way and acknowledge that each step brings you closer to your goal. Step 8 Seeking support is another essential step in overcoming fear. It's important to surround yourself with positive and supportive people who believe in you and your dreams. Don't be afraid to reach out for help, whether it's from a friend, family member, or a professional. There is strength in vulnerability, and seeking support is a sign of courage and strength. Additional tools! In addition to seeking support from others, it's also essential to cultivate self-care practices. Taking care of yourself is not selfish; it's necessary for your well-being. Take time to rest, eat well, exercise, and engage in activities that bring you joy. When you take care of yourself, you are better equipped to face your fears
and pursue your goals. A lightness pervades your body in a positive way. Again, be patient, in the beginning you may not feel this lightness, but the more you do it, you will notice a change. Ongoing visualization is a powerful tool for overcoming fear. Imagine yourself achieving your goals and experiencing the joy and fulfilment that comes with it. Do this every day for at least 3 minutes morning and evening. And if you really want to make the
transformation, do this as regularly as possible. Remember your mind does not know the difference between real and fantasy. As soon as your mind and body accept the new visualisation as the dominant outcome, then the balance shifts. Believe in yourself and your abilities. Visualize yourself succeeding, and with every step, you will come closer to making that vision a reality. Finally, it's important to remember that overcoming fear takes time and effort. Be patient and kind to yourself, and don't give up. Believe that you deserve a life full of joy and fulfilment and take the necessary steps to make it happen. Fear can be a powerful and pervasive emotion that holds us back from living our best lives, by identifying its source, reframing our mindset, taking action, seeking support, practicing self-care, visualizing our success, and persevering, we really can overcome our
fears and live a full life. Let's change our attitude towards fear and turn it into a source of strength and growth. We hope these few steps help you move to a lighter way of being. With love, |
